Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jose Musset played in the minor leagues from 1989 to 1995 and in independent ball in 1998. He began in the California Angels system as an outfielder in 1989, but converted to pitching by his second campaign. He was 2-7 his first season as a hurler. Just a couple of years later, in 1992, he was 8-2 with a 2.39 ERA in 41 relief appearances for the Quad Cities River Bandits; in 71 2/3 innings, he allowed just 41 hits while striking out 104 batters. The next year, in 1993, he had 21 saves for the Midland Angels, but his ERA rose to 5.49. On December 9th of that year, he was traded to the New York Yankees for infielder Spike Owen and cash. He reached Triple-A for the first and only time in 1994, posting a 6.23 ERA in 5 appearances for the Columbus Clippers; he had a 3.57 ERA in 39 appearances on the year as a whole. He didn't play in 1996 or 1997, but returned in 1998 to post a 3.03 ERA in 24 games (1 start) between two indy clubs.

Overall, Musset was 18-22 with a 4.21 ERA in 188 games (14 starts) over 7 seasons. In 297 1/3 innings, he allowed 263 hits and 153 walks, while striking out 296 batters. He slashed .267/.308/.349 in 86 at-bats.
