Biographical Information[edit]

Jose Jaimes was a minor league pitcher for six years then coached.

Jaimes signed with the Texas Rangers shortly after he turned 17. He made his pro debut with the 2002 DSL Rangers, going 0-3 with a 8.84 ERA. Much better with the same club in '03, he was 0-1 with a save, 2.97 ERA, .136 opponent average and 37 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings. In 2004, Jose was 5-1 with two saves and a 4.10 ERA for the AZL Rangers. He pitched for the AZL Rangers in '05, going 2-1 with a save but a 9.60 ERA. With the 2006 Spokane Indians, the Venezuelan right-hander was 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA, 18 strikeouts in 16 innings and a .164 opponent average. He went 3-1 with a 4.35 ERA in 20 games for Spokane in 2007.

In 2008 the Rangers offered Jaimes an opportunity to coach and he spent the year as a player/coach with the AZL Rangers. Over the next four years, Jaimes was a pitching coach for the 2009 DSL Rangers 2, 2010 AZL Rangers, and 2011-2012 DSL Rangers. He was assistant pitching coach of the AZL Rangers in 2013 and pitching coach of the Spokane Indians in 2014-2015 and the Hickory Crawdads in 2016-2019. After the 2018 season he also worked as a pitching coach for the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League. Jaimes was scheduled to return to Hickory in 2020 before COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the minor league season. He was a pitching coach for the ACL Rangers in 2021-2022, Hickory Crawdads in 2023 and ACL Rangers again in 2024.
