Biographical Information[edit]
Jose Dominguez came to the majors in 2013.
Dominguez was signed by Los Angeles Dodgers scout Rafael Rijo in 2007. In 2008, he made his pro debut, going 2-4 with a 5.14 ERA for the DSL Dodgers. He had 28 walks and 55 strikeouts in 42 innings. With the same club a year later, he had a 4-5, 3.64 record. His 11 hit batters tied for 9th in the Dominican Summer League. In 2010, he was 1-1 with a save and a 1.12 ERA for the DSL Dodgers. The next year, he came to the US and saw action with the AZL Dodgers (4-1, 3.50) and Ogden Raptors (0-3, 18.00, 26 H in 10 IP).
During 2012, Jose pitched for the Great Lakes Loons (4-3, 4 Sv, 5.25, 47 BB, 78 K in 72 IP) and Chattanooga Lookouts (0-1, Sv, 1 R in 7 IP). He began 2013 strong for Chattanooga (1-0, 5 Sv, 2.60, 28 K, 8 H in 17 1/3 IP) and saw limited action for the Albuquerque Isotopes (1-0, 1 H, 0 R, 5 BB, 12 K in 8 IP) before getting promoted to L.A. with Peter Moylan being demoted in turn.
Dominguez made his major league debut in a 6-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. He relieved Stephen Fife in the 8th with a 4-0 lead and went 1-2-3, fanning Delmon Young, getting Ben Revere on a grounder and retiring Carlos Ruiz on a pop. Scott Van Slyke pinch-hit for Dominguez in the bottom of the inning.
On November 20, 2014, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays along with minor league P Greg Harris in return for Ps Joel Peralta and Adam Liberatore. He earned his first major league win with the Rays on April 24, 2015, getting credit for a 12-3 beating of the Toronto Blue Jays after relieving Drew Smyly with two outs in the 5th and pitching 1 1/3 scoreless inning.
