Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Greg Harris was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 17th round of the 2013 amateur draft. Although he went to high school in Los Alamitos, CA, he was born on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts.

Harris made his debut with the AZL Dodgers in 2013, going 2-3, 5.29 in 10 games, including 7 starts. In 2014, he moved to the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League, where he went 7-6, 4.45 in 22 games. In 87 innings, he allowed 88 hits and 28 walks, but struck out 92 batters. On November 20th, the Dodgers traded him to the Tampa Bay Rays along with P Jose Dominguez in return for veteran major league reliever Joel Peralta and prospect Adam Liberatore. The Rays were obviously impressed by the fact he held his own against much older competition, as he was three years younger than the average Midwest League player.

He is the fourth pitcher to be named Greg Harris in recent times. The three others were contemporaries in the 1980s, two of whom pitched in the major leagues, including his father, Greg Harris.
