José Arrondo was a member of the Spanish national team. His brother Raúl Arrondo also played for Spain. José was 1 for 14 with a run as a backup corner outfielder for Spain in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup. He had a 0-1, 3.97 record on the mound despite 10 walks in 11 1/3 IP, only José Pulido and Óscar Rebolleda had better ERAs for Spain in that event. He was 1-1 with a 4.73 ERA in the 1993 European Championship and went 3 for 6 with a walk on offense. He tied Calle Skogqvist, Joeri Loykens and Roger de Saedeleer for 7th in the event in IP (13 1/3 IP). In the 1995 European Championship, he went 2 for 7 at the plate and 1-0 on the mound though he gave up 15 runs (10 earned), 22 hits and 8 walks in 9 innings pitched.

In the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, Arrondo was 0 for 10 with a walk, 5 strikeouts and an error as Spain's main left fielder; his brother was one of their pitchers. He started for Spain in the 1998 Baseball World Cup and went 3 for 17 with a walk, 6 strikeouts, two runs, a RBI and an error. In the 1999 European Championship, he was 0 for 8 with two walks and two runs as a corner outfielder. He went 1 for 12 with a walk in the 2001 European Championship, posting Spain's lowest average. He was 1 for 11 with two walks for Spain when they got a Bronze in the 2003 European Championship.
