Jorge Padrón was an outfielder with Pinar del Rio. As Cuba's left fielder in the 2004 World Junior Championship, he hit .346/.370/.423 and they won a Gold Medal. In only his 2nd season, 2006-2007, he led the Cuban Serie Nacional with 131 hits. He tied Alexei Bell for 6th in the league in batting average (.355).

The Pinar del Rio leadoff man hit .333/.419/.459 in 2007-2008. On April 1, 2009, he became the 22nd player in league history to get six hits in a game, going 6-for-6. He batted .345/.429/.518 for the year and tied for 5th in the league with 124 hits. His 771 innings played in the field led all players.

In the 2009 World Port Tournament, Padrón was 1 for 4 while backing up tourney MVP Yoelvis Fiss in left field. He became the first post-1962 Cuban team player to pitch for the national team before he pitched in the Serie Nacional. He tossed the 9th inning of the round-robin finale, a meaningless game for Cuba; he got a fly out, gave up a single and a sacrifice bunt, walked a batter, then watched a runner get thrown out stealing to end the inning.

He left Cuba following the 2009 season.
