Biographical Information[edit]
Jorge Miqueleiz has played and managed in Spain's Division de Honor and played for the Spanish national team. He is the brother of Isaac Miqueleiz and Fernando Miqueleiz.
Jorge debuted in Spain's top league in 1994. He appeared for Spain in the 2001 European Championship, hitting .192/.364/.346 with 6 runs in 8 games as his country's starting first baseman. In the 2003 European Championship, he went 1 for 9 with 3 walks and 2 RBI, backing up former minor leaguer Xavier Civit at 1B for the Bronze Medal winners. In the 2008 European Cup in Regensburg, he hit .267/.421/.267 with 4 runs and 4 RBI in five games as his FC Barcelona club finished first.
In 2009 (the earliest season for which Spanish league stats are available online as of June 2012), he hit .306/.411/.327 and fielded .991 for FC Barcelona. His five sacrifice flies tied for the league lead. In the 2009 European Cup, he went 2 for 9 with a walk, triple and two runs. He was 8 for 29 with a double and four walks during the 2010 season, then retired. In 2012, he returned to the Barcelona club (now CB Barcelona) as manager.
