Biographical Information[edit]

Jorge Minyety was a minor league infielder from 2008 to 2011.

Minyety signed with the San Diego Padres at age 16. He hit .288/.380/.459 with 61 walks in 64 games in his pro debut for the 2008 DSL Padres. He fielded .984 at second base, his main position. He led the Dominican Summer League in walks and was 5th in OBP. Coming to the US, he batted .240/.371/.299 with 38 runs and 31 walks in 45 games for the 2009 AZL Padres. Used as a utility infielder, he was 4th in the Arizona League in walks and tied for 9th in runs.

Minyety bounced around in 2010, with the AZL Padres (.323/.408/.371 in 18 G), Eugene Emeralds (.193/.333/.265 in 26 G) and San Antonio Missions (.227/.333/.273 in 22 G). He spent all of 2011 with Eugene, playing mostly third base; the 20-year-old hit just .209/.299/.233. His walks were down as well, with 10 in 97 plate appearances.
