Jorge Longa has been a reliever with Ciego de Ávila. He went 5-3 with 13 saves and a 3.28 ERA in 2007-2008. He was 10th in the Cuban Serie Nacional with 33 appearances and tied Yolexis Ulacia for second in saves, one behind leader Sergio Espinosa. Longa was the losing pitcher in that year's All-Star game, giving up a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 9th to Yosvany Peraza. Longa was 13-15 with 19 saves and a 4.28 ERA through that campaign, his 5th.

At age 23, Jorge fell to 1-1 with 5 saves and a 8.37 ERA in 2008-2009 with a .355 average allowed and 21 walks in 33 1/3 IP.
