Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jordan Wicks was the 21st overall pick of the 2021 Amateur Draft by the Chicago Cubs, out of Kansas State University. He was the first player in school history to be selected in the first round.

He made his major league debut as the Cubs' starting pitcher against the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 26, 2023, giving up 2 hits and striking out 9 over 5 innings to earn a 10-6 win. This came in spite of allowing a home run to Ke'Bryan Hayes, the first batter he faced. He retired 15 straight batters at one point, including five consecutive by striekout.
