Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Jordan Smith has played in the Cleveland Indians minor league system since 2011 (through 2014). He was taken in the 9th round of the 2011 amateur draft, a few picks after pitcher Aaron Brooks. He was signed by scout Les Pajari for a reported $125,000 and made his pro debut that summer.

He batted .300/.403/.391 with 35 walks, to only 30 strikeouts in 65 games for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2011 and was named a New York-Penn League Mid-Season All-Star. In 2012, he hit .316/.367/.453 with 9 home runs, 74 RBI and 70 runs scored in 116 games for the Lake County Captains and was named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. In 2013, he hit .292/.368/.400 with 18 stolen bases in 134 games for the Carolina Mudcats and was again named a MiLB.com Organization All-Star. He began 2014 with the Double-A Akron RubberDucks.

Smith became a coach with the Lake County Captains in 2019. He was scheduled to be bench coach of the Akron RubberDucks in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Smith coached Lake County again in 2021. Smith became a manager with the ACL Guardians in 2022 and Lynchburg Hillcats in 2023.
