Biographical Information[edit]

Jon Valenti pitched in the minor leagues and the Taiwan Major League.

Valenti was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 47th round of the 1991 Amateur Draft and 40th round of the 1992 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign in both times. The Oakland Athletics in the 15th round of the 1994 Amateur Draft, and he hit .287/.356/.415 in 53 games for the AZL Athletics in his first season. He slumped to .209/.265/.309 in 1995 for the Southern Oregon A's, then he blasted 11 homers with a .260/.314/.390 batting line for the West Michigan Whitecaps in 1996. Valenti's batting line was .293/.380/.413 in 1997 with the Modesto A's, then he went to the San Francisco Giants. He hit .245/.343/.361 with the Bakersfield Blaze in 1998, and he was turned into a pitcher in that season. Valenti was 1-2 with a 7.08 ERA in '98, and went 4-1 with a 5.12 ERA in 1999. He improved to 13-5 with a 3.86 ERA in 2000, then the Taipei Gida of Taiwan signed him. However, Valenti only pitched one game for the Gida, and his professional career ended.
