Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Johnny Grodzicki was wounded in World War II and never fully recovered. He later went on to spend the 1979 season as the Detroit Tigers pitching coach.
He made his major league debut with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1941 in the same year as Stan Musial.
He managed the 1950 Geneva (AL) Red Birds, 1957 Wytheville Cardinals and 1961 Johnson City Cardinals.
