Personal Remembrance by Bill O'Donnell[edit]
John Wolfe was a position player ( first base or outfield ) on the 1953 Oshkosh Giants of the Class D Wisconsin State League. I was also a pitcher on the team. While it was my rookie year, I believe John may have begun his baseball career before 1953. He also may have been a military veteran, but I am not totally certain of this. John was a bit older than most of us late teen-agers, and he was also married. I believe John hailed from the state of Ohio. I remember him as being fairly tall, with short brown hair, and he may have worn eyeglasses. He may also have begun the 1953 season playing for another Giants farm team -- the St Cloud Rox of the Class C Northern League. But I am not sure of this either. During our Oshkosh season, he may have been re-assigned to another team.
