Biographical Information[edit]

John Walsh played one major league game, with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1903. He was at third base for seven innings, and made no errors.

John was born in Pennsylvania, and attended what later became Fordham University between the years 1898-1903. He was at what was then called St. John's College at the same time as several future big leaguers, including future Hall of Famer Ed Walsh, although the two don't seem to be related. He moved over to the University of Notre Dame in 1901, at a time when there were several future major leaguers there as well. After being back at St. John's in 1903, he came to the big leagues in June, 1903.

He is listed as playing minor league ball in 1902 and 1906, including for a team in his birthplace, Wilkes-Barre, PA. Although the BR minor league database does not show it, this site [1] states Walsh played in some or all of 1908-1910 with the Jackson Convicts of the Southern Michigan League.
