Biographical Information[edit]
John Vann played 16 seasons in the minors, coming to the majors for one game with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1913. For much of that year he played with the Sioux City Packers where he had one of highest batting averages on the team; teammate Josh Clarke, brother of Fred Clarke, led that team in batting.
He was on the Shreveport Gassers team in March 1921 that played some spring training games against the New York Yankees. In the March 31st game, which Shreveport won, he batted eighth.
