Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder John Russell played for the Waynesboro Villagers in 1926, hitting .271 with 2 home runs in 85 games. He was signed by and released by multiple other teams in 1927 and 1929, however his playing record with them, if he played at all, is unavailable. He later became a scout for the Boston/Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves (1949-1968), Montreal Expos (1969-1972) and Chicago White Sox (1973). He won the Turk Karam Award in 1970.
