John Petrakis Field
John Petrakis Park was located in Dubuque, IA and opened in 1915 as Municipal Stadium. It was renamed John Petrakis park in 1967. [1]The park was home to the Dubuque Packers from 1954 to 1976.
Johnny Petrakis was President and General Manager of the minor league franchise. Petrakis was a local supporter of both youth leagues and minor league baseball. In 1956, Petrakis was featured in the Saturday Evening Post and was honored as "Executive of the Year for minor leagues" by The Sporting News.
In 1986, after the demise of the original ballpark, a new field within Dubuque's Gerald McAleece Park & Recreation Complex was named "John Petrakis Field."[2] [3][4]
