Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher John Orphal began his professional career in 1939 and played until 1948, missing 1941. Perhaps his best campaign was 1943, when he went 13-12 with a 3.34 ERA in 28 games between the Norfolk Tars and Birmingham Barons. On July 29, 1944, he tossed a no-hitter for the Barons against the New Orleans Pelicans, with his club beating the Pelicans 24-1. In his final campaign, he won 14 games for the Spokane Indians. On May 17, 1945, the Cincinnati Reds traded him to the Seattle Rainiers to complete a trade, though its unknown for whom he was traded.

Overall, Orphal went 68-77. He reached Triple A twice, going 6-10 at that level.
