John W. Mullen

Biographical Information[edit]

John Mullen served as farm director of the Milwaukee Braves from 1960 to 1966, then assistant GM of the Houston Astros from 1967 to 1974. He was the Astros' Scouting Director and then interim General Manager in 1975. Mullen was then assistant GM from 1976 to 1979. He moved back to the Braves as General Manager of the Atlanta Braves from May, 1979 to 1985. He stayed with the organization as assistant GM from 1986 to 1990. He died in a hotel room in 1991 and the Braves wore a patch with his initials, JWM, to honor him throughout the entire 1991 season.
