After graduating from high school, infielder John Miggins played three years of minor league baseball . He hit .219 for the 1940 Fort Lauderdale Tarpons, .300 for the 1941 Bristol Twins and .237 for the 1942 Ogden Reds. He then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following the war, he returned to baseball and was a Colonial League All-Star at second base with the Port Chester Clippers in 1948, batting .268. He also served as baseball coach at Iona College and received a degree from the school in 1949.
In his post-baseball career, Miggins was a New York City firefighter and later an FBI agent.
