Biographical Information

John Magner apparently lived his life in St. Louis, MO, but historians have not found information about his death. He appeared as one game as an outfielder for the Cincinnati Reds in 1879, but he had a longer career as an umpire. He worked his first game in the American Association in 1882, then was a regular umpire (by the standards of the time) in 1883, before working one-off games in both 1884 and 1887.
