Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher John Greening was a 40-year-old rookie when he started one game for the Washington Nationals on May 9, 1888. His biography can be found at SABR Biography of John Greenig
He was a veteran of the Civil War. he enlisted on May 18, 1864 as a member of the 132nd Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Company K. He served until September 7, 1864. his pension record mentions a couple of other regiments, but these have not been confirmed.
