Biographical Information[edit]

John Curran played three games for the Philadelphia Athletics in the National League's inaugural season of 1876. He went 4 for 12 and scored 5 runs in playing twice at catcher and once in the outfield. He also umpired one game that season.

He was long listed - mistakenly - as Peter Curren. However, his real name was John Curran, and after his brief playing career, he moved to Vallejo, CA, where he died in 1896 after falling backwards into a basement and breaking his neck.
