Biographical Information[edit]
John Cattanach pitched a game for the Providence Grays of the National League and two more for the St. Louis Maroons of the doomed Union Association in 1884. The Grays won the pennant, with Old Hoss Radbourn pitching the majority of their games. Cattanach pitched five innings in his one outing for the team. The Maroons also won the pennant, with Cattanach hurling 17 innings for them. Charlie Sweeney also pitched for both teams that year.
John was born, and died, in Rhode Island. He played for the minor league team in Willimantic, CT in 1884. Later, in 1885, he played for Columbus.
