Biographical Information

John Bergh played for two National League teams. He is the only major leaguer whose middle name is "Baptist", although Travis Baptist has it as a last name and Jack Baptiste Cressend comes close. According to an article on March 26, 1883 in the "New York Times", Bergh was blacklisted in 1881. He died of consumption in 1883.
