Biographical Information

John Bartsch has been a minor league pitcher and a scout.

Bartsch was undrafted out of college; he had gone 6-3 with a save and a 4.55 ERA for Western Kentucky University in 2001. He signed with the Baltimore Orioles and pitched ten games for the GCL Orioles in 2001. In 18 innings, he allowed 19 hits (4 homers), two hit batsmen, two wild pitches and one walk while fanning 10. He gave up 8 runs (all earned) for a 4.00 ERA and had a 2-1 record. Defensively, he had six chances with no errors.

Bartsch later was a Chicago Cubs (2005-2010) and Arizona Diamondbacks (2010- ) scout. He signed Darwin Barney, Brett Jackson, Mark Pawelek, Braden Shipley and Luke Sommer.
