Biographical Information[edit]

Joey Berkenbosch played three seasons in the Hoofdklasse; his brother Kenny Berkenbosch has played in the US minors and in the Hoofdklasse.

Joey hit .233/.383/.260 for Almere in 2005; a utility infielder, he fielded .911, playing primarily shortstop. His brother Kenny was a teammate. He left Almere for one season, 2007, where he was a backup OF/1B for the L&D Amsterdam Pirates (1 for 10, 2 BB, 3B, R, RBI), again a teammate of his brother's. He returned to Almere, which was in the Dutch minors, though they returned to Hoofdklasse in 2010, when he batted .222/.330/.233 with 8 steals in 8 tries. He was still a player/coach for Almere in the Eerste Klasse as of 2015 when he represented the Netherlands on the World Championship Mixed Martial Arts for Amateurs. Off the field, he works as a firefighter.
