Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Joel Bishop was taken in the first round, 16th overall, of the 1972 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox, ahead of outfielder Chet Lemon, among others. He spent two years in the minor leagues, never playing above Single-A ball.

In 1972, he hit .254/.337/.335 with 47 hits in 54 games for the Low-A Williamsport Red Sox. In 1973, he hit .233/.277/.287 with 47 hits in 66 games for the Single-A Winter Haven Red Sox. Overall, he hit .243/.306/.310 with 94 hits in 120 career games.
