Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Spano is a college coach.

Spano played at Boston University for two years, then hit .360 in two seasons at Lewis University. He was 2 for 46 for the 1997 Dubois County Dragons in his only season in pro ball. He was assistant coach at Mercyhurst College in 1998-1999 then became head coach in 2000. He won Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2000 (35-18-1) and 2006 (38-15). In 2008, he became the second coach in school history to 250 wins, following Joe Jordano. He was 251-213-3 at season's end.

Spano added assistant athletic director duties from 2018 to 2023. He then stepped down as baseball coach after 24 years to become Athletic Director in August 2023.
