Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Pipak pitched in the minor leagues from 1949 to 1954, going 62-55.
He served in the US Army during the occupation of Japan after World War II. With the Lakeland Pilots in 1951, he went 14-9 with a 3.71 ERA; the next year, he was 18-14 with a 5.04 ERA in 40 games for the Longview Cherokees. He also won 10-plus games in 1949 (11-10) and 1954 (12-9). On June 15, 1953, he tossed a no-hitter against the Austin Pioneers while pitching for the Greenville Majors. He led the Tri-State League with a 2.79 ERA in 1954 while pitching for the Knoxville Smokies. He later worked for Eastman Kodak, was a church deacon and coached youth baseball.
