Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Keener pitched two games for the Montréal Expos in 1976. He was 0-1 with an ERA of 10.38.
Signed by the Expos as an amateur free agent in 1973, he put up some excellent win/loss records in the minor leagues to earn his brief shot in the Show. In 1974, he went 16-6 for the West Palm Beach Expos of the Florida State League, with a 1.79 ERA. In 1975, he was 11-6 between the AA Quebec Carnavals and AAA Memphis Blues. In 1976, he was 14-4 with an ERA of 3.38 for a great Denver Bears team in the American Association. He pitched a couple more seasons for Denver after that, going 7-8, 4.63 in 1977 and 11-7, 4.30 in 1978, good results given the hitter-friendly climate at Mile High Stadium. However, he hurt his arm in 1979 and only pitched 3 games that year, ending his professional career.
