Biographical Information[edit]

After attending the University of Michigan, infielder Joe Jones played in the Chicago White Sox farm system from 1963 to 1969. He then managed in the Sox organization from 1970 to 1978 before moving on to the Kansas City Royals system in 1979. He was the Royals Minor League Coordinator of Instruction from 1984 to 1996 and was the team's first base coach in 1987. He was again a Royals coach in 1992 while Glenn Ezell recovered from open heart surgery. He was a Pittsburgh Pirates coach from 1997 to 2000 and rejoined the Royals staff for another season in 2005.
