Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Devine was a scout and minor league manager.
Devine was 0 for 6 for the 1915 Oakland Oaks. By 1919, he was managing in the Northwest International League, only 24 years old. He guided the Calgary Bronchos to a composite 143-72 record in 1920-1921, winning the Western Canada League titles both times. He then scouted for the Pittsburgh Pirates, signing Paul Waner most notably. He managed the Mission Reds for parts of 1931 and 1932. He later was a New York Yankees scout, signing Bill Wight and Rugger Ardizoia.
