He is the author of For the Good of the Country (about World War II baseball), The Pittsburgh Pirates, Baseball in Altoona, Forbes Field, Classic Bucs: The Top 50 Games in Pittsburgh Pirates History, The 50 Greatest Players in Pittsburgh Pirates History and Pirates By the Numbers. He is also the co-author, with Bill Ranier, of The Pittsburgh Pirates Encyclopedia, When The Bucs Won it All and When Cobb Met Wagner, and co-author with Chris Fletcher of Steel City Gridirons and The Steel City 500: the 500 Greatest Athletes in Western Pennsylvania History
