Joseph Norbert Brinkman

Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Brinkman began his career umpiring in the Midwest League (1968), Southern League (1969-1970), and American Association (1971-1972). he umpired his first American League game late in the 1972 season, became a full-time AL umpire in 1973 and stayed on until 2006, umpiring 4,505 regular-season games over 35 seasons. He was on the same crew as Derryl Cousins for 2,123 of those games, which is the all-time record for a pair of umpires working together.

He operates the Joe Brinkman Umpire School, which has trained a large number of major league and minor league umpires.
