Biographical Information[edit]
Joe Alvarez played minor league baseball from 1974 to 1977 in the New York Yankees, Houston Astros, and Baltimore Orioles organizations. A little-hitting infielder, he topped .225 once and had two career homers. After his playing career ended, he spent two seasons as a coach in the Orioles system before moving to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and becoming a manager. After some time away from managing, he was a coach for the Lakewood BlueClaws in 2007 and became skipper of the Hudson Valley Renegades in 2008.
Alvarez became an assistant coach at Florida Southern College in 2017.
Alvarez is also known as Jose Alvarez.
