Biographical Information[edit]
Jiro Toyoda pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Toyoda won Gold with Japan in the 1994 Asian Games. The Orix BlueWave drafted him in the fourth round of the 1994 NPB draft. He spent the first year of his career in the NPB Farm Leagues, and went 2-1 with a 3.40 ERA with the big club in 1996. He started in Game 4 of the 1996 Nippon Series, but he allowed 2 runs in 2 innings and got the loss to Masao Kida and the Yomiuri Giants. Toyoda had a 4.21 ERA in 29 appearances in 1997, then recorded a 4.33 ERA in 1998. He didn't play any games with the big club in 1999, and the 32-year-old Toyoda announced his retirement after the 1999 season.
Overall, Toyoda was 3-3 and a 3.98 ERA and pitched 129 innings in 3 seasons in NPB.
