Biographical Information[edit]

Jiping Qi has pitched in the China Baseball League and for the Chinese national team.

Qi pitched twice in the 2014 Asian Games, allowing 8 hits, three walks and 7 runs (6 earned) in 3 1/3 IP while fanning one; four teammates had higher ERAs, though. He allowed one homer, to future major leaguer Jung-ho Kang. [1] In 2016, he was 5-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 48 K in 47 1/3 IP for the Shanghai Eagles of the China Baseball League. [2] He was with Japan for the 2017 World Baseball Classic; unfortunately, in January 2020 (when this article is being written) the statistics and Gameday reports from that WBC were removed from the MLB websites and it is unclear if and when they will return. He was on the Chinese roster for the 2017 Asian Championship but the team was a late withdrawal. [3]
