Jin-woo Kim played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 6 years.
Kim played for South Korea in the 1981 World Games, 1981 Intercontinental Cup and the 1982 Amateur World Series. South Korea won the 1982 Series, their first world baseball title. The Sammi Superstars selected him in the first round of the 1983 KBO draft, and he hit .253/.354/.409 with 15 homers in his first season. He was 6th in homers (tied with Koo-seon Jeong) and 3rd in walks (between Dong-kyun Yun and Jae-bak Kim). However, Kim slumped to .225/.325/.367 with 9 homers in 1984, then he recorded a .266/.346/.405 batting line in 1985. Kim crushed 8 homers with a .286/.374/.455 batting line in 1986, then he only played 58 games with a .238/.341/.332 batting line in 1987. Kim was in a car accident and he missed the entire 1988 season, then he was released. The MBC Blue Dragons picked him up, but he only hit .159/.290/.193 then he announced his retirement.
Overall, Kim hit .250/.346/.388 with 363 hits and 43 homers in 6 seasons in the KBO.
