Biographical Information[edit]
Jimmy Kolawole led the 2003 All Africa Games in runs and was named the best hitter, but his Nigerian national team settled for the Silver Medal (some sources list him as MVP of the event as well). He attended the MLB European Academy in 2007. In 2012, he starred for the Carpi in Italy's Serie C. Kolawole signed with the Athletics Bologna for 2016, in Italy's Serie A (then the second-best league in Italy, behind the Italian Baseball League), the highest by any Nigerian player in Italy (Emmanuel Oladinni and Roy Ikoko had played in the Italian minors as well; Adeyinka Adewusi had played in Sweden's top league).
He played for Germany's Berlin Flamingos in 2018, probably the first Nigerian in the Bundesliga-1. He hit .217/.326/.333 as an OF-1B.
