Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Tyrone was another promising Chicago Cubs farmhand who did not pan out during the 1970s. The outfielder was traded to the Oakland A's, for whom he played 96 games in 1977, hitting .245. He went on to play for the Seibu Lions and the Nankai Hawks of Nippon Pro Baseball for four seasons from 1979 to 1982. He hit 35 homers for Seibu in 1980.
He is the brother of Wayne Tyrone.
He appeared as a contestant on a 1983 episode of The Price is Right (originally broadcast February 9, 1983) under his given name James. He won a Mazda GLC Hatchback (valued at $6,510) playing the Range Game, won his Showcase Showdown, but was beaten in the Showcase round at the end of the show.
