Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Thomas was the all-tournament second baseman for the 1982 College World Series. He was drafted in the 9th round of the 1982 amateur draft by the Houston Astros.
Thomas played in the Astros' chain from 1982 to 1986. He was traded to the California Angels where he played until 1990. He played parts of four seasons in AAA.
While playing minor league ball, Thomas would return to Wichita as a volunteer assistant during the off-season. He has been a full-time assistant coach for Gene Stephenson since 1993.
