Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Temp starred for Team USA when they won the Silver Medal in the 1955 Pan American Games. He led the event with 14 RBI and his four doubles tied Fabio Fiallo and Jose Matos for the lead. He tied Angel Scull's record for RBI in a Pan American Games; the mark stood for 32 years before Orestes Kindelan and Tino Martinez each drove in 19. Having also starred in football in college, he turned down an offer from the St. Louis Cardinals to sign with the NFL's Green Bay Packers. He then served two years in the military before joining the team. He spent four years as a defensive end for the Packers before injury ended his career.
He later worked in the insurance industry and was a major fundraiser for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay; they named a dormitory for him in 1989 in honor of his work for the school.
