James Clarke Scott

Biographical Information[edit]

Jim Scott began umpiring professionally in the Northwest League in 1968. He was in the Midwest League in 1969 and the Texas League in 1970. In 1971, he made it up to the Pacific Coast League, staying until the end of the 1972 season.

In 1978 and 1979 he was a replacement umpire in the National League when the regular umpires were on strike. He worked one game during the one-day strike staged on August 25th the first year, and then 70 games during the lengthier strike at the beginning of the 1979 season.

He ran a swing band for many years.
