Biographical Information[edit]

Jim Schmitz has been a long-time college coach.

Schmitz was head coach of Wilmington College from 1984-1986, guiding them to their first 20-win season in '86. From 1987-1990, he was at the helm of the University of Cincinnati, setting a school record with 31 wins in 1987. He then was assistant coach at the University of Mississippi from 1991-1994. He became head coach of Eastern Illinois University in 1995 and took them to their first NCAA Tournament trip in 1999. He went 538-576-1 at EIU and was fired following the 2015 season.
