Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jim Parke was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates 21st overall in the 1976 amateur draft, one selection ahead of pitcher Bruce Hurst.

With the Niagara Falls Pirates in 1976, the 18-year-old went 7-4 with a 4.50 ERA in 13 starts. He replicated that ERA the next year, going 4-10 in 21 starts for the Charleston Patriots. After not pitching in 1978, he returned to go 1-0 with a 3.67 ERA in 12 games (two starts) for the Salem Pirates in 1979 and 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in 10 games (one start) for the same team in 1980.

Overall, Parke was 14-15 with a 4.41 ERA in 56 games (37 starts).
