Biographical Information[edit]

Jim Miller was picked by the Colorado Rockies in the eighth round of the 2004 draft out of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he had been a successful reliever. He was signed by scout Damon Iannelli and made his pro debut that summer. Jim continued to relieve in the minors, never starting a game. Through 2009 he has 97 lifetime minor league saves, with a high of 34 for two teams in 2005.

Miller pitched eight games for the Baltimore Orioles in 2008 with an excellent 1.17 ERA, although he also allowed two unearned runs. In 2009 he pitched for the Norfolk Tides, getting 17 saves. Miller led the team in pitching appearances, and had a 2.64 ERA on a team whose overall ERA was 3.89.
