Biographical Information[edit]
Jim "Rabbit" Miller, who was 5 ft. 4 in. tall, appeared in 18 games in September of 1901 with the New York Giants at age 20, playing second base and hitting .138 for manager George Davis. The team tried many players at second base that year, and no single player appeared in more than 39 games at that position.
Jim had spent most of 1901 playing capably for the Binghamton Bingoes, where his batting average was second-highest on the team. Jim went on to play a total of ten years in the minors.
Although both "Jim" and "Miller" are common names, there have been only a few minor leaguers named Jim Miller, and only one other major leaguer by that name, Jim Miller, who came along over a hundred years later.
