Biographical Information[edit]
Jim McCormick played three games in 1892, getting 11 at-bats but no hits, although he did draw a walk. It was a tough year for hitters on the 1892 St. Louis Browns, who hit .226 as a team. McCormick appeared in two games as a second baseman and one as a third baseman. The regular second baseman, Jack Crooks, hit only .213, although he was also the manager for a while. The third baseman was George Pinkney, who hit .172. McCormick was 23, two years younger than the top pitcher on the team, Kid Gleason, who would go on to manage the Black Sox twenty-eight years later.
McCormick is not to be confused with Jim McCormick, the nineteenth-century pitcher and outfielder whose career ended a few years before this Jim McCormick's career started.
